The similarities between IT-security and the Corona pandemic
In this essay, Hans-Wilhelm Duenn, President of the Cyber-Security Council Germany e.V. and Oliver Dehning, Co-Founder of Hornetsecurity, demonstrate the similarities and commonalities between the current corona pandemic situation and the respective protective measures in IT security. The aim is to provide the reader according to those similarities with a clear, illustrative, exemplary and easily understandable explanation of the basic conditions, requirements and necessary procedures to offer the highest possible level of IT security.
As in the current Corona Pandemic, viruses in the cyber world do not stop at national borders but spread transnationally. The regulations, restrictions and protective measures that currently applied in this pandemic follow similar principles that are also used in IT security. Security, whether in health or the cyber world, is also not a state, but a process in which the threat situation is constantly changing.
How countermeasures in the corona pandemic follow the same principles of IT security is further illustrated in the essay.
